The new Local History group has been established and has attracted much interest. Everyone is welcome.
The aims of the group include:
- researching the village and local community;
- researching particular local buildings;
- collecting village memories and sources;
- writing for the website or for publication (see our recent articles);
- inviting guest speakers
The next meeting will be on Tuesday 13th March, 7.30 in The Reading Room, Avon Dassett.
The meeting will discuss plans for the group's publication of a new history of Avon Dassett to commemorate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. A visit to the local Record Office is being organised.
Current research includes the 1911 census, local newspapers, local charities, taxation and the collection of village images and photographs.
