From April 2008, the Government has extended free Concessionary Bus Travel to allow persons over 60 and defined disabled people to travel free on off-peak local bus services in England on the production of a nationally recognised bus pass.
The pass may be used anywhere in England between 9.30 and 11.00 weekdays and any time at weekends and Bank Holidays. However, Warwickshire Councils have extended the time you can start and end you journeys in Warwickshire to between 9.00am and midnight on weekdays.
· A permanent resident of the District of Stratford-on -Avon
· Are aged 60 or over; or
· Have a defined disability (s defined in sect. 146 of the Transport Act 2000)
· The pass is issued free by S-on A District Council
· The pass will be valid until 31 March 2013
· If the pass is lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed a charge may be made to replace it
· Requests for replacements must be made in writing
· Fraudulent use will result in prosecution
The pass is only valid for the person named and shown on the front, up and including the expiry date. The pass must be shown to the driver and any authorised person on demand. Return tickets will not be issued. The pass must be shown on both outward and return journeys.
The pass is not valid on trains, trams, taxis, coaches, long distance buses or underground, tube or metro
· You may apply in person or by post.
· You must complete an application form and provide:
a) Proof that you are a permanent resident (e.g. council tax bill) and
b) Proof of age if over 60 or
c) Proof of disability
d) A current colour passport photo- if applying by post.
If applying in person please call at the Council Offices at Elizabeth House, Church Street, Stratford where your photo will be taken and a bus pass will be produced while you wait.
